Mikro – project space for photography - in Duesseldorf presents from 04th September to 15th October 2010 the exhibition “Handshake Society” by Ben Van Den Berghe.

“Society handshake” deals with the ritualized gesture of handshake by using press images.

The opening is on 03 September at 8 pm.

The gallery Kaune, Sudendorf presents from 03rd September to 26th November 2010 the exhibition “For Me / For You” with new works by the Berlin based artist Stefan Heyne. Heyne dedicated his work to the elusive and uncertain in photography.

Opening is on 3rd September 2010 at 7 pm.

In October 2010 the new Lichtblick School starts in Cologne and offers seminars around art photography.

Among the first offerings there is the seminar “The Theatre of Real Life” by Wolfgang
Zurborn (from 10.10.2010) and a course of Frederik Lezmi about digital imaging (30./31.10.2010).

Carrie Thompson’s project “I Hope We Go Together” is about her grandparents and the deterioration of the railroad town they live in.

M. O. Q. (man or square) is a joint project of students of the course design of the HS Photo Munich. M.O.Q is produced without editorial staff. Each author is entitled to use a maximum of 3 double pages. M.O.Q is an experiment.

Wolfram Hahn’s work Kaffee Bankrott potraits persons who have a hard time to cope with the material contstraints of our society. They mostly fail to assert themselves in our normative system hence maintain their own special behaviour often incomprehensible to the average citizen. The aim of the project was to offer those people a possibility to introduce their situation and environment to confront the audience with it and induce a possible reaction. The portraits have been exhibited between December 2008 and January 2009 at the subway station Rosenthaler Platz in Berlin. The self-published catalogue in an edition of 300 documents the photo series and the exhibition, with a accompanying text by Daniel Klemm.

In his real / virtual documentary project “Die Neue Ehrlichkeit” (New Honesty) visualizes the Duesseldorf based artist Florian Kuhlmann the omnipresent consumerism of our inner cities.

His simple but effective cityscapes expresses the feelings we could get strolling in our nowadays cities.

Klaus Pichler takes an ironic look at the non-public areas of the Natural History Museum in Vienna with his series “Skeletons in the Closet“.

To finance his diploma “BIG L” about life at the Bolivian salt lake Salar de Uyuni, the photographer Daniel Hofer has launched a special edition of his works.

In this salt lake the world’s largest untapped reserves of lithium are suspected. The exploitation will change the region and the country sustainable.

The profit from the special “BIG L” edition will be used to 100% for the production of Daniel Hofer’s diploma.
