On Saturday, 13th March 2010, at 20:30 the Kominek Gallery in Berlin presents the series “Andzelika” by the Dutch photographer Wytske van Keulen.

For the series Wytske van Keulen accompanied the Polish girl Andželika over a period of five years.

On the 06th March 2010 at 7 pm the Photo Academy Cologne opens the exhibition “Erste Klasse” (First Class) with works of the participants.

On the 17th April 2010 from11 am to 3 pm there is an open day. The instructors of the Academy are available for all questions about the training and the participants of the two current classes present their portfolios.

From 5th until 7th March 2010 students of the University of Applied Sciences Dormund present their diplomas under the title “Außerordentlich” (Extraordinary).

The works range from applied to artistic positions and show the wide range of different activities of the department of design. Opening is on Friday 5th March 2010 at 6 pm.

From 25th February to 28th March 2010 the gallery Lichtblick in Cologne presents the exhibition “Hello from Bloomer. Viele Grüße aus Wismar” by Wiebke Loeper.
The opening is on February 25th at 8 pm.

“Wiebke Loeper shows with her exhibition and book project” Hello from Bloomer. Viele Grüße aus Wismar” in which way early influences coin keep their persistence in a completely new environment.
She describes the lives of her grandfather Willi and his cousin with the same name. Both grew up in Pomerania and learned the profession of a butcher. Separated by war, the settled down in the U.S., the other one lived in the GDR.
With a combination of collected photographs from family albums and her own photographs she creates a documentation of the biographies, showing surprising parallels.”

Wiebke Loeper, born in 1972 in East Berlin, studied photography at the HGB Leipzig.

The exhibition “AUFRUHR” (REBELLION) at RAUM.201 in Essen shows from 21st February to 16th May 2010 contemporary photography from the Ruhr area. The exhibition opening is on the 21st February at 15:00 Clock.

On display are works by Sebastian van den Akker, Bozica Babic, Bernd Kleinheisterkamp, Anne-Lena Michel, Nadine Preiß, Arno Schidlowski, Valerie Schmidt and Frauke Thielking.

The NRW-Forum Duesseldorf shows from 06th February to 15th August 2010 a Robert Mapplethorpe retrospective.

The selection of 150 photographs spans from the early Polaroids in 1973 to his final self-portraits in 1988.

Under the title “picture perfect” displays berg19, space for photography, work of Andrea Kroth, Jonas Holthaus, Tim Kubach and Luke Hoffmann until 20th February 2010.

The phrase “picture perfect” is used when suddenly opens up a perfect view. But the photographers approached this term in a more figurative sense. They do not explore classic beauty, but the moment when everything comes together.

The gallery Kaune, Sudendorf in Cologne presents from 22nd January until 10th March 2010 work of Todd Hido. Opening is on 22nd March 2010 at 7 pm.

Todd Hido, born 1968 in Kent/Ohio, became well-known with the night shots of his book “House Hunting”.

With the exhibition “twelve exposures” opens the new producers gallery exp12 for Contemporary Photography in Berlin / Prenzlauer Berg.

The participants are Verena Blank, Eva Brunner, Dorothee Deiss, Mark de Longueville, Oona Eberle, Nadine Ethner, Olle Fischer, Birgit Krause, Claire Laude, Anna Meschiari, Susanne Schneider and Nicole Woischwill.
