Until 02nd March 2012 the Salon für Fotokunst in Berlin displays photographs by Anna Thiele under the title: “Berlin. In the government district.”

In her images Anna Thiele shows the government district in ambivalence: a lively and vibrant part of the town, populated and connected with everyday life and also separated from people in its monumentality.

For me, art books are the ultimate extension of children’s literature. They are the creative weaving of text, design and image between the tactile covers of a book. No parent would tell you that the children’s book is in danger of extinction. Toddler’s want to gnaw on board books, not iPads. The same is true for artist’s books.

KILL YOUR DARLINGS

The book “KILL YOUR DARLINGS” presents nineteen works by twenty photographers, curated and edited by Ute Noll. The photographers represented in the book have studied at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen with Peter Bialobrzeski between 2005 and 2011.

The landscape format soft cover can be flipped comfortable and features a cross-section of young photography from Germany. The end of the book offers an interview by Ute Noll with Peter Bialobrzeski and provides information about his teaching.

Noticeable is a broad distribution in style and topics of the presented work. Once analytical documentary, once artistically reflexive, then staged and abstract – anything goes. In this respect the openness of teaching, expressed in the interview with Bialobrzeski, becomes visible. more…
