David Meskhi’s series “When Earth Seems To Be Light” seems to be influenced by Ryan McGinley. Nevertheless a nice work about feeling young and different.

As part of the exhibition series Ausserordentlich the gallery Zweites Büro Dortmund presents the final thesis of Jonas Holthaus and Olga Kessler from 26th February to 20th March 2011. The opening is on 25 February 2011 at 7pm.
“Following the US-American sociologist Irving Goffman, Jonas Holthaus looks in his work ‘Welcome to NEUE WELT’ at the stages of urban life. He strolls the streets, squares, parks and supermarkets, he takes a photographic walk through a unspecified city, searching for cracks and defects in the edges of real life theater.
Olga Kessler’s work ‘der Kuss. System Familie’ (the Kiss. System Family) explores emotional and physical needs between parent and child. The table is a central element in the place where tje family comes together, a system associated with security and safety. In her photographs Olha Kessler analyzed and deconstructed these images, the function of home, a place where the family kiss can not be returned.”

From 22nd February to 14th March 2011 FENSTER61 in Berlin shows the series “Sonntags in Berlin” (Sunday in Berlin) by Frank Schirrmeister.
“Berlin nowadays is seen as one of the trendiest cities in Europe – a place to be. Clever city marketing and low-cost airlines made the city a world-wide popular place for people who seek the extraordinary. In contrary to this Frank Schirrmeister is more interested in Berlin on the edge.
If you dive into the deeper layers of the metropolis, Berlin will soon be a place full of fascinating parallel worlds. Most of them escape our perception, because we simply never encounter them. Since 2006 Frank Schirrmeister has set out to explore Berlin’s citizens in their leisure activities.”

‘Le Sapin’ questions the relationship between photography and woodcarving. The dimension of the night plays an important role. I am looking by the use of the medium and find the limits of perception. – Nicole Hametner
