My Heart at Evening
Toward evening you hear the cry of the bats.
Two black horses bound in the pasture,
The red maple rustles,
The walker along the road sees ahead the small tavern.
Nuts and young wine taste delicious,
Delicious: to stagger drunk into the darkening woods.
Village bells, painful to hear, echo through the black fir branches,
Dew forms on the face.

BerlinPhotoWorkshops has new seminars on offer.
For the first time Peter Oehlmann runs the seminar “(Another) Street View“:

“I would like to invite you to a somewhat different Street View, for an open, questioning and wondering view on the city. – Whether you continue a work or begin a new project, I offer a critical and stimulating support during the process of image selection, editing and issues of presentation.”
For the second time Kai-Olaf Hesse’s one day workshop “Photo book or photo series?” deals with forms of presentation and its context.

“This workshop addresses the prerequisites for the content and design of an image series, which shall then be brought together to construct a photo book. – On the basis of participant’s own works and books, the workshop will discuss possibilities and critical aspects in regard to the presentation of photographs in book form.”

Michael Kominek, born in 1971 in Poland, is a photographer and gallery owner. He was co-founder and editor of the Spanish magazine SCOPE and runs since 2007 the Kominek Gallery in Berlin.
Peter F. (PF): Michael how did it happen that you founded the photo book gallery Kominek 2007 in Berlin. How did you get the idea to combine the various elements of publishing, bookstore and gallery?
Michael Kominek (MK): The basic idea was to create a specialized type of site to present the best photo books. My absolute dream was to publish books by myself, even if it would be very small editions.

“Beauty is composed of an eternal, invariable element whose quantity is extremely difficult to determine, and a relative element which might be, either by turns or all at once, period, fashion, moral, passion.”
