
“Through my work I deal with what challenges me. One of these challenges is the way people relate to nature, and that relation is, I believe, an expressed view of a political, social and economical nature.
The series “Wonder” refers to idyllic and almost dreamlike places taken in the Azores Islands. Through these sites of leisure I operate a change to my previous series “Some Observations in the Wilderness”. Here nature is dominating over the human artefacts. Still, it remains an apparent and illusory sense of control over the natural elements.” – João Margalha
João Margalha, born 1966 in Barreiro / Portugal, holds an MSc in Environmental Planning. and studies currently Contemporary Artistic Creation. He lives and works in Aveiro / Portugal.
