Between 1981 and 1985, Jay Wolke shot thousands of photographs on and along the Dan Ryan during the day and night, traveling up and down the expressway , which he combined to a wonderful book in “Along the Divide”.
A book tease is available at photo-eye.

German photography classes II
Posted by (PF) at 6:08 ...
A time ago I mentioned here the photography classes of Duesseldorf, Bremen and Hannover. But somehow I oversaw the homepage of the study course communication design of the University Duisburg-Essen (Folkwang Hochschule).
In the sector photography are teaching Gisela Bullacher (Photography/Basics), Elke Seeger (Photo Design) and Joerg Sasse (documentary photography). But Sasse will leave the University.
KD-Diplom shows the final projects of the communication design students of the University Duisburg-Essen (Folkwang Hochschule).
Present is for example Agata Madejska, who won ” gute aussichten 2007/2008″ with her series “kosmos”. Rivkah Young, with his series “Delos”, showing artificial paradises and Almut von Pusch with her series “Ich bin Du”.

Friday Quote: John Keats
Posted by (PF) at 6:02 ...
A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its lovliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.
Endymion, John Keats (1795 – 1821)

Damian Zimmermann
Posted by (PF) at 6:12 ...

Damian Zimmermann’s photographic focus is on conceptual series and portrait photography.
His series “R45” combines portrait photography with landscapes and details. The title of the series “R45″ relates to code which classifies medical diagnoses. R45 stands for “symptoms relating to psychic moods” .
Worth seeing as well is Zimmermann’s book project “Trautes Heim” (cosy home), a collaboration with the photographer Nadine Preiss.
The book shows conditions of dissociation during the apartment liquidation of the widower Alois Rossa.
Damian Zimmermann, born in 1976, lives and works as journalist and photographer in Cologne.
