Christian Patterson’s series “Sound Affects” will be on display at Kaune, Sudendorf from April 19th to June 06th 2008. The opening reception and book release of Patterson’s first monograph of the same title will be held on April 18th at 7 pm.
On Saturday, April 19th at 3 pm there will be a book signing at schaden.com.
Christian Patterson’s work is driven by color and a high curiosity for the unseen in everyday life. His project “Sound Affects” catches the ‘visual melodies’ of Memphis (Tennessee):
“I spent three years exploring the city of Memphis, listening to its music and discovering its hidden places. The photographs in ‘Sound Affects’ were made at barbecue joints, dive bars, liquor stores, parties, and everyday locations including laundromats, supermarkets, and my own home. The moments I captured are unmistakably musical. There is also a more elusive, underlying musicality that I found. These are the sound affects.” – Christian Patterson
Christian Patterson, born in 1972 in Fond du Lac (Wisconsin), is a self-taught photographer. Patterson worked as assistant for William Eggleston from 2002 to 2005. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Christian Pattersons Serie “Sound Affects” wird vom 19. April bis zum 06. juni 2008 in der Kölner Galerie Kaune, Sudendorf gezeigt. Die Vernissage und Buchpräsentation von Pattersons gleichnamiger erster Monografie ist am 18. April um 19:00 Uhr.
Am Samstag, dem 19. April um 15:00 Uhr findet in der Kölner Buchhandlung Schaden.com eine Signierstunde statt.
